– The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced on Tuesday that the next set of inductions into the ITA Men’s Tennis Hall of Fame will take place in 2017.

Located in Athens, Georgia, at the University of Georgia’s Dan Magill Tennis Center, the ITA Men’s Tennis Hall of Fame is curated by John Frierson.

The NCAA Division I Tennis Championships return to Athens in 2017, providing the ITA Men’s Tennis Hall of Fame a great opportunity to showcase its newest class of inductees, as well as the entire Hall of Fame.

“Athens, Georgia, has served as the home to the ITA Men’s Tennis Hall of Fame for many years, and the ITA is very excited about inducting its next class in 2017,” said ITA Chief Executive Officer, Timothy Russell. “With the NCAA Division I Championships returning to the University of Georgia next year, it’s a great opportunity for the ITA to celebrate all of the best and brightest in today’s game, as well as honoring those who came before, paving the way to make our sport standout and unique.”

The ITA Men's Hall of Fame, which includes over 1,800 rare photos, inducted its first class in 1983 and has inducted more than 260 players, coaches and contributors since then. Players are eligible for election to the Hall of Fame 10 years after the conclusion of their participation on their college team, and once they are no longer participating on the pro tour. Coaches are eligible immediately following retirement. The main criteria for election are college accomplishments as well as honors earned after college. The ITA Men’s Tennis Hall of Fame also includes a group of individuals who have made contributions to the sport and to the Association.
