– Applications are now being accepted for the 2016 Wilson/ITA National Promoter of the Year Award. The two winners, chosen by Wilson, will receive a paid summer internship to work at Wilson’s global headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, in its Grassroots Marketing department.

The Wilson/ITA National Promoter of the Year Award recognizes to student-athletes who advance the game of tennis by devoting consistent time and effort to promotional activities, and by supporting and bringing awareness to their school program and to college tennis in general.

The interns will assist with the day-to-day projects for the entire Grassroots and Marketing team. Interns will have an opportunity to work and experience all the different facets of Wilson Racquet Sports from tennis balls, racquets (performance and recreational), promotions/marketing, U.S. tour, indoor (racquetball, squash, badminton and paddle), accessories and apparael/footwear.

In order to apply, one must meet the following qualifications:

-University or College must be an ITA member.
-Applicant must be an upperclassmen, and currently a full-time student.
-Has been the team manager and/or a roster player for at least two semesters.
-Has expressed an interest in gaining experience in the areas of communications, marketing, promotions or athletics administration.
-Has displayed excellent organizational and leadership skills, including but not limited to: promoting the varsity tennis team on campus and in the community.

Along with a resume, applicants should also send along:

-A letter of recommendation from their head coach, detailing the nominee’s exceptional contributions to promoting the sport of tennis.
-A personalized cover letter outlining his/her interest in the position and highlighting key qualifications.
-A list of at least two references other than the head or assistant coach.
-One originally-typed writing sample (200 words or less).
