TEMPE, Ariz. – College tennis is evolving, and so is the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, as the governing body unveiled its new logo on Monday, August 1, 2016.
“The ITA is thrilled to roll out our new logo and brandmark to the sports world,” said ITA Chief Executive Officer Timothy Russell. “Since joining the ITA just over a year ago, it’s been part of my agenda to partner with companies that share a vision match as we strive to serve college tennis and return the leaders of tomorrow. Pete Williams and his talented team at PLANIT Studios aligned perfectly with our forward-thinking and innovative staff, and the fresh and cool image we were looking to portray for college tennis. The ITA would like to thank PLANIT Studios for their tremendous work in enabling the ITA’s new brand to spring to life.”
In addition to creating a new logo, the ITA also sought out to enhance its brand colors. The new ITA color scheme effectively symbolizes the ITA’s passion for developing leaders that excel on the court and beyond, while also expressing the power and beauty of tennis and the ITA’s prominence in the world of tennis.
The ITA blue brand color stands as a symbol of trust and intelligence; two traits that the ITA and its members strive to embody. The deep blue also reflects the blue tennis hardcourts seen at the ITA’s own tournaments and at courts across the nation. The ITA yellow accent color emphasizes energy, intellect and happiness, as well as the logo’s background tennis ball, so that it is easily seen behind the ITA text.
“The PLANIT Studios team thoroughly enjoyed its experience in working with the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on creating its new logo and brandmark,” said Williams. “The ITA had a clear vision for its rebrand, and that was to show the organization’s energy and impact in the world of college athletics. We believe the new ITA logo and primary colors state that vision in a clear and modern way.”
