TEMPE, Ariz. – Oracle and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the latest Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Division II National Rankings on Wednesday, and the two teams that ended the 2016 season hoisting NCAA trophies continue to remain atop the men’s and women’s rankings.
Defending men’s national champion Hawai´i Pacific opened its season over the weekend and posted a 2-1 record, blanking Sonoma State 9-0, falling to UC San Diego 5-4 and rebounding with a 7-2 win over Hawai´i-Hilo.
The men’s Top 10 saw no change from the 2016 Oracle/ITA national fall rankings.
Armstrong State, the defending NCAA women’s national champion, is off to a 4-1 start to the season. The Pirates’ lone loss came at the hands of No. 3-ranked Lynn 5-1 on Feb. 18. A day after dropping the match to Lynn, Armstrong State bounced back with a 6-3 victory over No. 4 Saint Leo.
The women’s Top 10 saw two slight changes, with Lynn and Saint Leo swapping places, and St. Mary’s (TX) moving up to No. 9 over Northeastern State, who checks in at No. 10.
The next set of national rankings will be released on March 22, 2017, and will include team, singles and doubles rankings.
