– North Carolina and Virginia continue to hold down the No. 1 and 2 positions in the nation’s Top 10, as Oracle and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the updated Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings for Division I men on Tuesday.

The Tar Heels are spending their third consecutive week atop the rankings, while previous No. 1 Virginia remains at No. 2, despite dropping a 4-2 decision on the road to No. 11 Illinois on Feb. 27.

Northwestern climbed six spots from No. 15 to No. 9 in this week’s rankings. The Wildcats, who are 12-1 this season, have equaled the best start in program history.

North Carolina Remains Nation’s Top-Ranked Team
The Tar Heels are now 14-0 on the season, following a pair of 7-0 victories on Monday over Campbell and North Carolina Central. Head coach Sam Paul earned career victories No. 400 and 401 in the process. North Carolina plays its final non-conference match of the season at home on Friday against No. 54 Vanderbilt. A start time will be determined later in the week once it has been determined whether the match will be played indoors or outdoors.
